“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”

This quote from Eleanor Roosevelt is particularly helpful to consider as many of us find ourselves posting our resumes yet again because—despite the pervasive impact of today’s “retracting” economy—it can be easy to think it’s somehow your fault that you’ve re-entered the job market: to beat yourself up thinking, “If only I had done X,” or “If only I hadn’t said Y.”

The trouble with this is that this sense of personal failure has the potential to influence the way you begin to think about your former situation, making it still more difficult to talk about how and why you were let go. With this in mind, then, let’s look at some language you can use to ensure you end up on offense instead of defense.

The Foul Weather Friend Response

You’ve all heard the term, “fair weather friend,” to describe the person who’s always around when the sun is shining and the seas are calm. Unfortunately, foul weather friends also exist—people who miraculously show up in your life the day your divorce papers are delivered, when you find yourself in the emergency room, or during the planning of your parent’s funeral, but are somehow never free to come to your holiday party,
your child’s graduation, or your anniversary celebration. These psychic vampires generally open with, “What happened?” not “What can I do?” as their ultimate goal is not your well being, but instead detail-collecting in an effort to make themselves feel better about what’s going on in their lives, and the boost of self-importance they get from being “there for you.” You will also find they have time to spread your story far and wide.
wow gold
For this particular category I recommend keeping your explanation short and sweet. “Well, we got divorced.” Or, “Well, I got laid off.” That’s it. Further detail is unnecessary. Should they follow up with an, “Oh, I’m so sorry. Did you see it coming?” all you need to say is, ‘Thank you. Yes. (Or no) I appreciate your concern.” They are not entitled to more.

The Potential Employer Response

Obviously things become somewhat more complex when a potential employer asks about the reason behind your changed status. wow power leveling That said, I continue to recommend keeping the particulars of your situation to a minimum, and instead making a broader statement about the state of your industry, “Yes, a number of people in my area were also let go due to downsizing.
world of warcraft power leveling
As you know, my sector was hard-hit due to X, Y, Z” Or, “Yes, an inability to raise our third round of funding necessitated some cuts all around. As you know, venture capital is thin on the ground in this economy.” should suffice. Then use that as a springboard for talking about what you learned from the experience, and how you plan to apply that knowledge to your new position. “What I’ve discovered is that tackling challenges outside my comfort zone actually inspires me—I like a sharp learning curve. This is one of the primary reasons I came in to talk to you. I very much admire the diversified, hands-on approach you ask of your employees.” Or, “What I learned is the value of a good fundraiser, so that’s where I’ve put my energy in the intervening months—very few people look bored when you mention you know how to raise money. With regard to how I might raise money for you, I was thinking of X, Y, Z.”

Re:Unoccupied - Everyday Life (Aleph Zero)- Out Nov. 1 Year, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
Duanwu Festival is a traditional Chinese festival held on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese calendar. It is also known as the Double Fifth. It has since been celebrated, in various ways, in other parts of East Asia as well. In the West, it's commonly known as Dragon Boat Festival.

The exact origins of Duan Wu are unclear, but one traditional view holds that the festival memorializes the Chinese poet Qu Yuan (c. 340 BC-278 BC) of the Warring States Period. He committed suicide by drowning himself in a river because he was disgusted by the corruption of the Chu government. The local people, knowing him to be a good man, decided to throw food into the river to feed the fish so they would not eat Qu's body. They also sat on long, narrow paddle boats called dragon boats, and tried to scare the fish away by the thundering sound of drums aboard the boat and the fierce looking carved dragon head on the boat's prow.

In the early years of the Chinese Republic, Duan Wu was also celebrated as "Poets' Day," due to Qu Yuan's status as China's first poet of personal renown.wow power leveling,

Today, people eat bamboo-wrapped steamed glutinous rice dumplings called zongzi (the food originally intended to feed the fish) and race dragon boats in memory of Qu's dramatic death.

People's ideas on scores vary from person to person. Some think that scores are very important. They think in this way because scores have always been the only means to tell whether a student has a good command of the subject they have learned.

To illustrate, they say scores are often used to determine whether a student should go to college or not. Scores are also used to decide whether he can further his study after graduation. Scores are still used to decide whether he can get a job in the job market. Others, on the other hand, holdthat scores are not so important as practical knowledge. They suggest that students with high scores at school are not necessarily competent in their work after graduation. Our society does not need those who can perform very well in examinations; instead, it needs those with practical skills.

I think both of the above views have their limitations. Having lots of theoretical knowledge without enough practical skills is no good, nor is having lots of practical skills without enough theoretical knowledge. Only when we have a combination of both, can we be called qualified students of new China.

The Cultural Revolution in China (1966.5-1976.10) was a large scale political campaign launched by the late iron man Mao Zetong. Afraid of China's heading for the so-called revisionist road, which was alien to the orthodox Marxist doctrine, Mao gathered a bloc of radicals to aid him in his attack on the leadership of the Communist Party. Law-and-order was shattered. The whole country was in complete upheaval. Good-willed as the intent might seem, the CR turned out to be a nightmare in the history of China's development. Official Chinese Communist Party documents termed it as a colossal mistake which is in no conformity with revolution in any sense of the word.
world of warcraft power leveling,
My experience with CR as I remember is that everywhere there were Red Guards, those Mao's crazy supporters. The feverish RGs went so far as to resort to violence, dragging out government officials, blocking railroad traffic, hampering production in factories, fighting among themselves, destroying cultural relics. I still recall a remote relative of mine, whose family was victim to the fractional fight among the RGs. Members of the family belonged to and believed in different RG organizations. They argued, debated, and there was no peace at home. At last, they fought with fists. As a tragic result, one lost an eye. What is really sad is that this is only a very small incident in the tragedy of the whole nation.

A wrong revolution waged by a problem-minded leader made common people suffer. This is the real picture of CR.

I'm the Only One

She was my sister and she was sleeping late. She's a lot older than me and at the time she was about to break into films, directing them, so everybody was indulging her. She was the only girl, too. If something didn't work out in her life and she had to come home for a while, it was a big deal. It mattered more than if I fucked up in one way or another. When Kelly was at home you had to creep around the house and keep your voice down even if it was in the middle of the afternoon. Our mother's Canadian - I don't know why I say that, except maybe it helps explain her opinion about Kel: Smarts Needs Special. It was this crappy little phrase that she had made up and it meant that clever people.wow power leveling, People with special talents, need special treatment. Like they have a disease. You have to meet the Canadian side of our family to understand how cute she thinks that phrase is. I remember thinking that it was bullshit when I was fourteen and it still smells bad now. But to my mother, Kelly was this asteroid that had landed in our lives and no one knew how she got there or what size hole she was going to leave. I've never been very good at school, and Pete, our older brother, is the same. Then along comes Kelly. So my mother has us all pussy-footing around like a family mime troupe, waving our hands, taking our shoes off.replica rolex,

I'm thinking of a particular morning, I was creeping around trying to make a silent breakfast, opening cupboards quietly, acting like I didn't exist. I'd been doing it for a couple of weeks since Kelly got back. It felt like I'd been doing it my whole life. The situation came about because earlier in the year Kelly had moved in with this guy called Aidan. They bought furniture, the whole works. Then she cheated on him and he left her. Apart from Kelly being back in our house, it was also a shame because Aidan was the only man she ever went out with, before or since, whom I've had any time for whatsoever. Aidan was a top, replica rolex, man, a good guy. The thing I like about him was that he was smart, but he didn't need much of this special treatment. He was Irish, from Dublin, and he could be funny, he could talk football and he liked to see other people's mouths open and close besides his own. It was good knowing someone like him. I needed it; what with dad not being around, Pete married and gone; and me in a house full of women. That was the year I was praying for a few more inches on my height and shaving the bare space under my nose hoping that something might turn up. So it was good to know Aidan, six foot three and hairy as a bear. He was hairy back and front and Kelly would tease him about it, and he would laugh her off or tell her she could do with losing a few pounds which, between you and me, was nothing but the truth. She was a fat little thing back then. And he went and told her, straight-up; didn't care that she was almost, sort of, famous. He told it how it was. That was the way he loved her. She never appreciated it, replica rolex, though, and then she had this fling with some pretty boy in the film industry. But you could see she realised what she'd lost when he left her because she slunk back home and holed herself up in Pete's old room that I'd been using for weights. She took it over and lay in there all day in the dark curled up in a stinking duvet watching old black-and-white films. I remember asking her, 'Why can't you use your own bedroom?' She had a small bedroom upstairs that used to be covered wall to wall in her school friends' graffiti until she went off to university and mum whitewashed the whole thing. I asked her again, 'Why can't you use your own bedroom, that's what it's there for.' She said, 'I can't sleep and work in the same room. I need a study.' She said it as if a study is one of those things you can't do without, like clean water. I said, 'But I need to exercise.' She said, 'You're fourteen. Your body isn't even developed. The only thing you need to do is stop beating the bishop before you go blind.' This was classic Kelly. She always knew how to make you feel four inches long in every direction.
replica rolex,
So she came back, and I had to move out all my weights and spread them around the house wherever there was space. I put the bench press in my room along with the free weights. I put the Abdominizer in the lounge. I stuck the chin-up bar at the top of the stairs which lead down to the front door. And even though I was pissed off with Kelly for taking the spare room, having the weights all over the place did make it more like circuit training and doing circuits made me feel like I was Rocky. It's what they do in the middle of Rocky movies; a two-minute sequence to show that over a number of months he got fit and pumped up. You pray for that kind of speedy, magic-time when you're working out, the same way you wish your adolescence would pass like it does in a TV serial: a school scene, a sex scene and graduation. It's slower and faster than that. And some events become still and solid, and turn into a thing in your life, an object like a lampshade or an ironing board. They hang around; you could reach out and touch them. This day I'm trying to tell you about is like that.
So: my exercise. I'd start in my room, and do about four sets of twenty. Then I'd run downstairs and start on the Abdominizer. If you've never seen one, they're like half of something fun, half a bike
replica rolex, or half a swing. You lie down in them and you do sit-ups. You spend good money trying to make sit-ups something else. In the end, a sit-up is a sit-up. But I'm a big a mug as anyone and I'd try and do two hundred sit-ups in that thing in sets of fifty. The pain was very bad. So I'd think of something that pissed me off, usually Kelly, and the anger would help me push out the last fifty. I wanted to show her that I could develop if I wanted to. Because there was always this thing between her and me that we were both kind of overweight, and always telling the other one that they were obsessed with it.So if Kelly didn't eat lunch,
I'm the Only One

wow power leveling,
The Chinese New Year is now popularly known as the Spring Festival because it starts from the Begining of Spring (the first of the twenty-four terms in coodination with the changes of Nature).wow power leveling Its origin is too old to be traced. Several explanations are hanging around. All agree, however, that the word Nian, which in modern Chinese solely means "year", was originally the name of a monster beast that started to prey on people the night before the beginning of a new year.
aion kinah,
One legend goes that the beast Nian had a very big mouth that would swallow a great many people with one bite.aion kinah People were very scared. One day, an old man came to their rescue, offering to subdue Nian. To Nian he said,
wedding dresses,
"I hear say that you are very capable, wedding dresses but can you swallow the other beasts of prey on earth instead of people who are by no means of your worthy opponents?" So, it did swallow many of the beasts of prey on earth that also harrassed people and their domestic animals from time to time.
cheap aion kinah,
After that, cheap aion kinah the old man disappeared riding the beast Nian. He turned out to be an immortal god. Now that Nian is gone and other beasts of prey are also scared into forests, people begin to enjoy their peaceful life. Before the old man left,
maple story mesos,
he had told people to put up red paper decorations on their windows and doors at each year's end to scare away Nian in case it sneaked back again, maple story mesos because red is the color the beast feared the most.
world of warcraft power leveling,
From then on,world of warcraft power leveling the tradition of observing the conquest of Nian is carried on from generation to generation. The term "Guo Nian", which may mean "Survive the Nian" becomes today "Celebrate the (New) Year" as the word "guo" in Chinese having both the meaning of "pass-over" and "observe". The custom of putting up red paper and firing fire-crackers to scare away Nian should it have a chance to run loose is still around. However, people today have long forgotten why they are doing all this, except that they feel the color and the sound add to the excitement of the celebration.

Re:Unoccupied - Everyday Life (Aleph Zero)- Out Nov. 3 Months ago Karma: 0
Time is running out for my friend. While we are sitting at lunch she casually mentions she and her husband are thinking of starting a family. "We're taking a survey,"she says, half-joking. "Do you think I should have a baby?"
dog clothes,
"It will change your life," dog clothes I say, carefully keeping my tone neutral. "I know,"she says, "no more sleeping in on weekends, no more spontaneous holidays..."
But that's not what I mean at all. I look at my friend, trying to decide what to tell her. I want her to know what she will never learn in childbirth classes. I want to tell her that the physical wounds of child bearing will heal, but becoming a mother will leave her with an emotional wound so raw that she will be vulnerable forever.
cheap aion kinah,
I consider warning her that she will never again read a newspaper without thinking:cheap aion kinah "What if that had been MY child?" That every plane crash, every house fire will haunt her. That when she sees pictures of starving children, she will wonder if anything could be worse than watching your child die. I look at her carefully manicured nails and stylish suit and think that no matter how sophisticated she is, becoming a mother will reduce her to the primitive level of a bear protecting her cub.
wedding dresses,
I feel I should warn her that no matter how many years she has invested in her career, wedding dresses she will be professionally derailed by motherhood. She might arrange for child care, but one day she will be going into an important business meeting, and she will think her baby's sweet smell. She will have to use every ounce of discipline to keep from running home, just to make sure her child is all right.
wedding dresses,
I want my friend to know that every decision will no longer be routine.wedding dresses That a five-year-old boy's desire to go to the men's room rather than the women's at a restaurant will become a major dilemma. The issues of independence and gender identity will be weighed against the prospect that a child molester may be lurking in the lavatory. However decisive she may be at the office, she will second-guess herself constantly as a mother.
flyff penya,
Looking at my attractive friend, flyff penya I want to assure her that eventually she will shed the added weight of pregnancy, but she will never feel the same about herself. That her own life, now so important, will be of less value to her once she has a child. She would give it up in a moment to save her offspring, but will also begin to hope for more years—not to accomplish her own dreams—but to watch her children accomplish theirs.
maple story mesos,
I want to describe to my friend the exhilaration of seeing your child learn to hit a ball.maple story mesos I want to capture for her the belly laugh of a baby who is touching the soft fur of a dog for the first time. I want her to taste the joy that is so real it hurts.
My friend's look makes me realize that tears have formed in my eyes. "You'll never regret it," I say finally. Then, squeezing my friend's hand, I offer a prayer for her and me and all of the mere mortal women who stumble their way into this holiest of callings.
